The Haven's 25th Anniversary Open House
The Haven is celebrating its 25th anniversary on the afternoon of Sunday September 14 with an Open House and we hope that you will come and bring your friends!

Our Panoramic Ocean View

We invite you to celebrate not just the 25 years since Ben Wong and Jock McKeen founded The Haven, but the next 25 too! This is a free of charge event and an open invitation to old friends and new to join us for an afternoon of connection, information, fun and some surprises too! It's a fabulous opportunity for new people to find out more about what we do, as well as a chance to reconnect with old friends. We would love to welcome back anyone who has not been here for a few years. We will be offering a tempting taste of the range what The Haven offers, as well as outlining our plans for the future.

Join us for The Open House! The event will run from 1.00 to 4.00pm, starting off in the Wong and McKeen Phoenix Auditorium. After some words of welcome and information about The Haven, we will be offering guided eco-tours of the property. Even those of you who know the place well may be surprised at what you don't know about the property. It is a chance for us to showcase our green credentials, especially our water system, as well as the beauty of our seven-acre grounds. We hope the weather will be good, so that we can finish off the day with refreshments (including cake!) on the front lawn. We can't think of a better way to spend a late summer afternoon, and hope that you will join us.

Join us for lunch! To mark the occasion we will be offering an amazing lunch for only $5. There will be plenty for meat eaters and vegetarians alike, and as ever with food at The Haven, we add love as a special ingredient! However, you will need to reserve your spot for lunch - sooner rather than later, as it will be busy. There will be two sittings, at 11.30 and 12.15. You can book your place by calling our front desk staff at 877 247 9238 or by emailing info@haven.ca - don't forget to tell us which sitting you want and how many people are coming.

Join us for the weekend! For those of you who may be coming from further away, we are marking our 25th anniversary by offering a 25% discount on our resort room rates for Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday night. There is limited availability, so to avoid disappointment, contact our Front Desk staff by calling 1 877 247 9238 or emailing info@haven.ca to make your reservation. In addition to the discount on accommodation, we are also offering our bodywork services at a discount. The work of The Haven's bodyworkers complements everything that we do and is an integral part of The Haven experience. Some of our talented bodyworkers will be available on the weekend of the 14th - to book in advance please contact our Bodywork Coordinator, Elfi Dillon-Shaw (1 877 247 9504 or elfi(at)haven.ca). What a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy yourself with friends, and round off an amazing summer at The Haven!

Coming by car? Parking is limited at The Haven, so we ask you to car pool or find alternative ways to get here. We will be offering a shuttle service to and from the Gabriola ferry. Our shuttle bus will meet the ferries leaving Nanaimo at 11.40 and 12.50, and we will take people to the 4.15 and 5.20 ferries leaving Gabriola.

We look forward to seeing you here! For more information about this event, contact Rachel Davey (rachel[at]haven.ca, 1 877 247 9238 ext 235).

Congratulations to Wen Shwu Lee, Dip.C.!
Wen Shwu and Friends
On August 3, on the last day of a Come Alive, we gathered at The Haven to celebrate another graduate of the Diploma in Counselling. Wen Shwu Lee received her Diploma in front of friends and participants - and in The Haven tradition, it came as a complete surprise to her. It was a joyous and heartfelt celebration of the dedication and skill that it takes to graduate from our Diploma program.

Wen Shwu first came to The Haven in 1997 to attend a Mini-Phase, and then continued her journey of discovery doing Haven courses in Taiwan and in Canada. In order to pursue her dream of a Diploma in Counselling, Wen Shwu moved to Vancouver for a number of years. Wen Shwu is our first Dip.C. from Taiwan and we are delighted that she is now officially a graduate of The Haven.

For more information on our Diplomas and Certificate programs, see our web site.
