Remembering Joann Peterson

Saturday June 23, 1:00 - 3:00pm at The Haven

On Saturday June 23, friends and family of Joann Peterson will gather at The Haven to celebrate her life. The two-hour ceremony will include:

A gathering in the Phoenix Auditorium from 1:00 - 2:00pm.
From 2:00 - 3:00pm on the front lawn (weather permitting), an 'open mic' opportunity for anyone who would like to share their thoughts and feelings about Joann and opportunity to connect with everyone. Refreshments will be provided.

Thank you to those who have RSVP'd already. Knowing if you are coming will help us to effectively organize the day.

If you have not already RSVP'd and wish to come, please send us an email ASAP to this email address joannRSVP@haven.ca and let us know if there are others who will be coming with you.

As mentioned in the May E-News, this is a busy time of year at The Haven and unfortunately we are already fully booked on June 22/23. There are several options for you to consider in Nanaimo and on Gabriola, please check the links below.

We have very limited parking space so would ask that you avoid bringing your car if at all possible.

We will have a Haven Shuttle at the Gabriola Ferry Terminal to meet the 10:35 and 11:40 ferries from Nanaimo. After the celebration, departure shuttles from Haven to the Ferry are scheduled to leave at 4:00 and 5:00.

As noted above, we will be serving refreshments in the afternoon. If you are planning to have lunch at the Haven, we need to know in order to prepare adequate amounts of food. Please let us know by sending an email to joannRSVP@haven.ca.

We are delighted that Andrew Best, a great friend of The Haven and of Joann, has created a DVD for the occasion which will be shown as part of the gathering in the Phoenix Auditorium. Copies of the DVD will also be on sale on the day at $20.00 plus taxes - net proceeds from the sale of the DVD will go to the Haven Foundation Learning Person to Person fund in Joann's memory.

If you are not able to come and would like to order a copy of the DVD, please email joannRSVP@haven.ca with your contact details (name, telephone number, mailing address) and we will be in touch with you. We cannot guarantee to have the DVD sent to you before 23 June, but we will do our best.

We look forward to welcoming those of you who can come, and joining in spirit with others who can't, to celebrate the life of Joann Peterson. We did not receive any information about others hosting events in other locations, but we would invite all of you who knew Joann to join us in your thoughts on Saturday, June 23.
