Special Announcement – Recruitment of a new Executive Director

In January 2006 Rick Jackson took on the challenge of becoming The Haven's first Executive Director and has been 'at the helm' since then, steering The Haven through a year of transition to a new management structure.

Having achieved his primary goal – to establish a strong and sustainable structure to take The Haven into the future – Rick has completed his mandate as Executive Director. He will continue to serve as a Director on The Haven Foundation Board as well as an active member of the Core Faculty of The Haven. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his hard work and dedication to The Haven.

Rick has always been fond of quoting Winston Churchill, and these words of his are particularly appropriate at this time:

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.

The Haven is now looking for an individual to join us for the 'joy and glory of the climb' – a person with the vision, energy and experience to guide The Haven along our 'ever-improving path'.

We want to hear from you if:
  • You are a competent and able leader. You like challenges and difficult situations and you are willing to be accountable for the management and overall strategic direction of the organization while reporting to a volunteer Board of Directors. You are ethical and willing to embrace change processes to ensure the greater good of the organization.
  • You preferably have a background in not-for-profits and you have either direct experience or a sound appreciation of what it takes to lead an organization in the field of personal development and/or residential training centers.
  • You have executive abilities and experience in fundraising and development, management, finance, administration and operations.
  • You really believe you can play a key role in leading The Haven Foundation, its managers, staff and part-time faculty towards continued vitality and renewal in the 21st century.
Full details of the post can be found at http://haven.ca/us/jobs.html.

The closing date for expressions of interest is March 15, 2007. You are invited to send your resume to The Chair, The Haven Foundation at resume.executiveDir@haven.ca

Thank you for your continuing support of The Haven. To quote Churchill once more:

We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.
