In the event that a student’s/participant’s actions appear to course leaders (instructors) or management, to be inappropriate or unacceptable the actions in question will be discussed with the student/participant immediately.
The Management of the Haven Institute for Professional Training may dismiss a student/participant, immediately terminating his/her attendance in a course and residential privileges, on the following grounds:
- If, in the considered judgment of The Haven Institute management or instructors (course leaders), a student/participant becomes dangerous to him/her self, to others, or to property.
- If the student/participant breaks the law while attending a course on the premises.
- If the student/participant refuses to cooperate with course leaders or staff or to follow an explicit directive of Haven management.
- If the student/participant does not pay in full according to The Haven Institute terms and conditions for a course or services provided.
|
Upon appropriate investigation and discussion, depending on the seriousness of the inappropriate action or the circumstances, the student/participant may be
- given an opportunity to continue in the course with their assurance that the inappropriate actions will cease.
- dismissed from their course and/or their Program of study immediately,
- suspended from their course and/or Program of study.
In the case of suspension, the Director of Education will outline for the student the necessary terms and conditions for reinstatement.
|
If the student/participant is dissatisfied with the decision of Management, s/he may appeal to the Educational Disputes and Appeals body of the Haven Foundation within 14 days of receiving notice of the decision. The panel’s finding in regard to the appeal shall be rendered within 30 days. Their decision is binding and the final stage in this process.
Note: Where there is an allegation that the student has breached the Code of Ethical Conduct, a separate policy and procedure exists for addressing ethical conduct issues. Please see Institute Policies: Code of Ethical Conduct, which includes Ethical Conduct Complaints—Policy & Procedure, and Sanctions for Breach of Ethical Conduct—Policy & Procedure.
