NOTES

Credits: This syllabus is based on a total of 45 credits for a Diploma. Given that 1 credit = roughly 40 hrs, this is an 1800 hr program.

Graduation: To graduate from the Certificate program, the student must achieve a grade indicating "average intern performance" and in addition to the required courses and credits, must also demonstrate the ability to work as an intern in a team setting, to contribute to small-group leadership and to act in an ethical manner.

To graduate from a Diploma program the student must;
  1. pass all required courses and electives that make up the required credits of that Diploma including a grade indicating successful leadership of a Come Alive small group alone or as an equal co-leader and
  2. demonstrate skill levels in experiential forms, ethical practice, sound judgment, and the values core to Haven (curiosity, self-responsibility, clear and responsible communication, relational interaction and embodiment).
Equivalencies: Equivalencies for previously competed work will be granted only for work that clearly covers the same content as the Haven presented course. Other equivalencies can be granted for work undertaken as part of the program and approval for such must be obtained in advance. There are NO equivalencies possible for senior internship.

Papers: Each of the Phase internship papers is approx 4 to 6 pages in length and requires a bibliography of at least 3 books or articles. The Phase 1 paper is on individual process and the Phase 2 paper is on group process. Both require that the student describe and analyze their own process in relation to the topic. Any student having difficulty writing papers should consult with the Director of Education regarding assistance and/or use of alternate media.

Senior internship: requires that the student take on responsibilities specific to their learning needs/goals. These responsibilities may include mentoring a more junior intern, organizing assigned special events of the Phase, or leading short intern training sessions. The student must consult with the Dir of Education to obtain approval before registering for the Senior Internship. During Senior Internship, the student does a short oral presentation of one of the models commonly taught at Haven.

Second Diplomas: Those individuals who hold one Haven Diploma, may obtain a second Diploma by;
  1. taking an additional 4 credits subsequent to the first Diploma
  2. meeting all the requirements of the second Diploma sought
Note that courses taken to satisfy #2 can be counted in the total of the 4 credits required under #1.

Existing Students: Students enrolled in the Level 2 or the level 3 (Certificate) or 4 (Diploma) of any existing syllabus as of 01/ July / 2008 when this syllabus takes effect, have a period of three months prior to the effect date, to request moved to the new syllabus. All such requests must be in writing. If the student switches to the new syllabus, all courses already credited on their transcript will be applied to their new Certificate or Diploma program (as the case may be) and they will become subject to all requirements of the new syllabus.
