Dancing the Body's Wisdom
|
|
A Movement Therapy Training
|
This course is for you if you:
- you are a counsellor, therapist, body-worker or other related helping professional who would like to integrate movement into your work and life
- you would like to explore how movement can be used to help make meaning out of life
- you are looking for deeper connections between body, mind and spirit
|
Description:
Movement can be seen as a bridge to the unconscious. The issues and mysteries with which we struggle are often reflected in how we move, both individually and in relationship to others. When movement is used as a metaphor, new insights emerge and we experience a deeper connection to our wisdom, creativity, and spirituality.
Format:
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about various movement therapy techniques, both through direct experience and some theory. We will focus on Authentic Movement, Laban movement analysis and Process-Oriented movement, and also look at how other healing systems, dance and physical exercises can be used to create movement experiences. We will work in pairs as mover, witness and facilitator, and use small and large group process for integration. No previous movement or dance experience is necessary. Some previous personal experience of a body-centred therapy is recommended.
