Description:
This course is held concurrently with the Phase I: Self Awareness course.

Phase I Intern is a 25 day course during which the interns learn experientially by both "doing" (supervised leadership of a small group each evening), and engaging in lecture/discussion and supervised/coached practice.

The general outline of the day, for the interns (and assistants who have a role in coaching the interns) is to:
  1. attend all Phase One group sessions (most days, 6 hours of large group and approx. 2 hrs of small group in the evenings led by the interns) and
  2. meet (approximately 3 hours per day) with the leaders &/or assistant for teaching and skills development, at:
    • 08:30 each morning for 3/4 hr to plan the day
    • 12:45 for 1 hr (between the morning and afternoon classes)
    • 18:45 for 1/2 hr to plan the evening class that the intern leads
    • approx 21:30 for up to an hour to debrief the evening small group
Topics and experiences included in Phase One internship include:
  • review of all the Phase One concepts and material as part of the large group format of Phase One
  • concepts of individual psychological development
  • skills for tracking individual process
  • leading (either alone or with another intern or assistant) a small group for 17 evenings
  • during that small group leadership, run the group and manage it's dynamics, carry out group exercises and conduct individual pieces of work with participants
  • attend leader led individual appointments with those participants who are part of their small group
