This course provides an introduction to diagnosis of personality styles and disorders. Using object relations theory of personality development as a base, students learn how to recognize the basic personality patterns and learn, through practice, important and effective therapeutic interventions. Testimonials:
'This course is a must for every intern! To have taken this course means to have a head start on "being with" people. The content of this course has helped me see much clearer how I move in the world of relating and why I respond to different people in different ways. I learned very useful tools for applying what I have learned. With connection and relating being the goal, this course has inspired me to learn even more about personality styles and listen to music more attentively. Finally, I have a greater and more empathetic sense of the similarities and differences of all of us as people. Basically I loved the course!'
—Ulla Stetter, 2005

'My most favorite Haven course so far. Over the 3 days Gwen and Wayne took us on a dance through this material and made learning seem effortless and fun. Moving easily between straight white-board teaching on the one hand and deeply personal work on the other, the presentation had a juicy and natural flow to it.

I have never enjoyed learning so much! I felt welcomed to ask any questions I wanted and found that these leaders were prepared to stay with me until I had fully grasped the point. They seemed able to give themselves whole heartedly to the project for teaching us and gave their own (remarkable) relationship freely as illustration throughout. I laughed and cried all the way.

It is worth doing this course simply for the sheer delight of watching these two gifted teachers reveling in the joy of teaching a subject they know inside out. The material is really interesting. Not ever having had the confidence to consider interning before, by the end of this 3 days I knew I could do it if I wanted. I recommend it to anyone on the Intern path.

A wonderful experience.'

—Harriet Thomas, 2004

'I learned to identify and work with personality styles in a group setting. I had an opportunity to lead exercises and developed a faith in my ability to work effectively as an intern.

I also had the opportunity to be a participant in these exercises and thus do my own personal growth work.

The leaders have created a program that I found to be especially effective with my kinesthetic learning style.'

—June, 2004
