Pianist Johannes Wallman’s playing reminds us of the great Keith Jarrett in its transparency, tenderness, space and explosive power. Veteran of a decade in NYC and ex faculty at the Manhattan School of Music, Johannes is now Director of Jazz Studies at California State University East Bay in the San Francisco Bay Area. Johannes grew up in Qualicum.

Musician Phil Dwyer has been a force on the international jazz scene for over two decades. A critically acclaimed composer, arranger, and musical director, as well as gifted, intuitive performer on both saxophone and piano , Dwyer has performed with everyone from Aretha Franklin, Ian Tyson, and Gino Vannelli to jazz greats like Red Rodney, Ingrid Jensen, Randy Brecker, Tom Harrell, Jim Hall, Dave Holland, Don Thompson, and many others. Phil lives in Qualicum.

Our own Jesse Capon is one the top drummers in the Toronto music scene. Capon is known for his huge range of expressive quality on the drums. A list of credits includes regular club appearances and Jazz Festival performances. Jesse is also in huge demand as a teacher and record producer. He is heard often at the Rex Jazz Bar in Toronto where he produces the popular series of Saturday dinners sets.

Bassist Sean Drabitt has played in over 40 countries and worked with some of the worlds best young jazz musicians including Kurt Rosenwinkle, Mark Turner, Seamus Blake, Nicholas Payton, and Eric Harland. He lives in Victoria at the moment where among a host of other things, he works in a group called Namedropper which includes Ray Garraway, Russ Klein and Brad Turner.
